a series of drabbles

i. christmas bells

I should have been jealous. The way you looked at her. The way you spoke of her. The way your eyes lit up in her presence.
But then you smiled your special smile just for me, the one that could move mountains, the one that no one else had ever seen. And it was suddenly all right. Because we were MarkandRoger. And no matter what happened, we would always be together, always be MarkandRoger. So what if you met a new girl? She would be gone soon and you would be vibrant and alive again and everything would be okay.


ii. goodbye love

Why?
How?
I just wanted us to be us again. I just wanted you to stay. I just wanted to tell you that you were my world, you always had been and always would be.
Why did you have to yell? Why did you hurt me? Why do I still love you?
How could I have said that to you?
Especially because it's a lie. And I know it. You would have known it if you didn't start screaming.
I could never survive without you, Roger. And if...
When.
You're gone... I'll be gone too. I'll make sure of it.


iii. your eyes

Your eyes are more beautiful than hers will ever be.
You used to tell me that my eyes made you smile.
You used to tell me that my hands fascinated you.
You used to tell me that we would always be friends.
I used to believe you.
But as I watch you watch her, I know that is worse than a lie. Because you meant for it to be true. But it never will be. Not ever. Not now that you have her. You'll never love me.
Who would have thought that Mark and Roger would have broken MarkandRoger apart?
