It was a lazy Sunday afternoon, and Harry and Hermione were sitting around the Gryffindor Common Room, studying and trying to get their minds off of Professor Umbridge. Ron was off at Quidditch practice, and the other Gryffindors were occupying themselves elsewhere, so they were alone in the room.

After awhile, Harry looked up from his scroll and said, falteringly, "Hey Hermione? Does it... does it matter to you that Ron's is, y'know, longer than mine?"

"Well, of course not Harry! Don't be ridiculous. Yours is a good size too, you know."

"Oh, I know... but I mean, fourteen inches... that's a really impressive length!"

"Don't be such a git, Harry. It doesn't matter what size it is, it matters what you do with it."

Satisfied with this response, Harry mumbled "I s'pose so" and returned to his reading. A few minutes later, however, he set the book back down.

"Hermione?"

"For heaven's sakes, yes?"

"Well... you're sure you never thought about it? I mean... you weren't just trying to make me feel better or anything, were you?"

"Boys, honestly! No, Harry, I think it's a fine length!"

"Oh. Good." His brow furrowed, and he continued, "You know, mine might be a few inches shorter, but it has a phoenix-feather core... those are pretty rare."

Hermione was getting exasperated. "Harry! If you don't quit pestering me, it's going to be a lot shorter! Stop worrying about your wand! It's just a stick when you get right down to it!"
